Governor Diri Rejects Proposal to Be Atiku’s Running Mate, Calls It a “Greek Gift”
As reported by The Nation newspaper, a group known as Diri Angels proposed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate should select Governor Diri as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate. Governor Diri, however, dismissed this suggestion as a deceptive offer from political opportunists, urging the public to ignore it entirely.
Reacting to the proposal, the Bayelsa State governor referred to it as a ploy from political jobbers with ill intentions, designed to create discord. Diri emphasized that he has always relied on divine guidance rather than such political maneuvers. He stated, “The aim of those behind this act is to cause disaffection, but the plot is dead on arrival as I’m not interested in such a Greek gift.”
