Admiral Alison Madueke Sues Ex-Wife Diezani, Seeks Court Order to Stop Her Using His Surname
Diezani Alison Madueke’s former husband, Admiral Alison Madueke, has taken legal action against the ex-minister who served under former President Goodluck Jonathan. The former Chief of Naval Staff has petitioned the Lagos State High Court to confirm their marriage’s end and prevent Diezani from using his surname. He has requested that the court order Diezani to revert to her maiden name, Agama.
According to SaharaReporters, Admiral Madueke argues that Diezani’s continued use of his name damages his reputation despite their legal separation. He expressed concerns that her actions could lead to unintended consequences, such as mistaken liability, especially given the corruption allegations against her. The couple married on June 30, 1999, under the Marriage Act.
In his petition for jactitation of marriage (a declaration that a marital union has ended), Admiral Madueke emphasized the importance of this legal distinction. Meanwhile, Diezani Alison-Madueke denied recent reports that she begged President Bola Tinubu to allow her to return to Nigeria, labeling such claims “fake” and “concocted.”
