Nigeria Gears Up for Paris 2024 with 76 Athletes Across 11 Sports
Since debuting in Helsinki 1952, Nigerian athletes have competed in every Summer Olympic Games, except for the Montreal 1976 boycott. In 2024, 76 Nigerian flagbearers will compete in 11 sports at the Paris Olympics.
Nigeria has won 27 Olympic medals, primarily in athletics and boxing.
Ahead of Paris 2024, here is the breakdown of Nigerian athletes by sport:
Badminton: Anuoluwapo Opeyori will represent Nigeria.
Boxing: Nigerian boxers are Cynthia Ogunsemilore, Omole Dolapo, and Olaore Olaoitan.
Cycling: Ese Ukpeseraye is Nigeria’s sole cyclist.
Table Tennis: Quadri Aruna and three others will compete.
Football: The Super Falcons will compete in the women’s tournament.
Weightlifting:Two athletes will represent Nigeria.
Athletics: 26 athletes will participate.
Basketball:D’Tigress will compete for the second consecutive Olympics.
Canoeing: Beauty Otudeo and Ayomide Bello will compete.
Taekwondo: Elizabeth Anyanacho will represent Nigeria.
Wrestling: Five female wrestlers will participate.
