Abiodun Becomes Chairman of Southern Governors Forum and Soludo vice

On Monday, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, was elected as the Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum. Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, was chosen as the Vice Chairman.

This decision was made at the end of the Southern Governors Forum meeting held at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, announced the new leadership.

Sixteen of the 17 governors in the Southern Governors Forum attended the meeting, with only Rivers State Governor, Similayi Fubara, absent. Some governors were there in person, while others sent their deputies.

Governors present included Babajide Sanwoolu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Alex Otti (Abia), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Charles Soludo (Anambra), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), and Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom). Deputy governors Chinyere Ekomaru (Imo), Monday Onyeme (Delta), and Olayide Adelami (Ondo) attended on behalf of their governors.

After the meeting, Abiodun thanked his fellow governors for electing him and Soludo, stating it was an honor and a humbling experience.

He expressed gratitude to all 17 governors for their participation and commitment to the Southern States’ progress. He promised to justify the trust placed in him and Soludo.

Abiodun mentioned that they discussed many issues, and he and Soludo would soon provide details of their decisions and goals for the newly repositioned Southern Governors Forum.
