Celebrating Okonjo-Iweala’s 70th Birthday: Delta Governor Joins the Festivities
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, congratulated Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), on her 70th birthday on June 13.
Through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori praised Okonjo-Iweala, a distinguished Deltan from Ogwashi-Uku and the first African woman to lead the global trade body.
He highlighted her as a symbol of professionalism and integrity, and a role model for women everywhere.
The Governor also applauded her outstanding achievements in supporting Nigeria and the international financial community.
Oborevwori noted that Okonjo-Iweala significantly contributed to Nigeria’s economic development during her two terms as Finance Minister.
He praised her intellect and expertise as an economist and international development specialist, whose flawless work has been recognized worldwide.
“We, as a state, are extremely proud of your impressive achievements, which have garnered numerous awards and recognition over the years.
“Your innovative contributions as Finance Minister under Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan stand out.
